In this creative economy where intellectual property is the “product” for most of us, building authentic relationships is a valuable critical skill. And trust me it is a skill. It takes time, thought and a dash of wisdom. It takes great communication skills, good timing and a lot of social savvy.
I value the authentic relationship builders, because they make for great business partners. They genuinely care about people. They approach their businesses like a calling. Getting to know people, what they care about and what makes them tick are a natural part of their process.
Do you know any true relationship builders?
I’ll bet you do. They engage, interact and show interest in others. They make consistent contact and not only do they get their jobs done, they help others get the job done as well. You miss them when they are not around. They pay attention to the details of what is important in others’ lives and work. They promote for others and even when they promote for themselves it feels great! Because they thrive on being a help and benefit to the community, promoting for themselves IS promoting for others.
Each Follow Friday, I’ll be highlighting a different Relationship Leader in Social Media on stacijshelton.com. By Relationship Leader, I mean someone who embodies what Social Media is, by building valuable relationships within the community. They are people who personify Authenticity, Transparency, Openness & Community.
I’ll talk with them, about them, what they do, how they bring value to the community, and even do a little more relationship building.
I look forward to meeting and building even better relationships even more of you over the coming weeks and months! Not a bad way to showcase a business, huh?

Great idea! Waiting for the first community builder pro ;)
I believe that the genius of great relationship builders is their sincere interest in others. It’s such a sterling quality… This is a beautiful post, Staci…and you too are a great relationship builder.
