Awesome Realtionship Builders on Twitter (FollowFriday)

j0382877

One of my favorite Twitter Days is Follow Friday.  I love connecting to people and promoting so for me it’s like a Social Media Holiday.  Each week people share their favorite people to follow.  I join in and share my favorite picks with gusto and abandon.

There are a lot of people talking on Twitter, but not everyone is building relationships. There are a lot of monologues.  People tweeting all about their thoughts, posting links to their sites and telling people all about themselves.  I lovingly call them Twitter Narcissists.

I always have a lot of Follow Friday shout outs, but as you know, for me, it’s all about relationships.

There are a lot of true relationship builders on Twitter.  People who have joined the conversation, who balance talking with listening.  They share insights about themselves but also talk to and about others.  They have the ability to make Social Media feel intimate.  They don’t self promote, ask you to buy anything or hire them.  They add value and contribute energy, content and encouragement to others.  They don’t just tweet, they get to know others in the stream.  They show up consistently, build friendships, partnerships and take the conversations and interactions offline.  They get it.

If you’re interested in following people who contribute to the community and the conversation, here’s a good place to start. These people have different backgrounds, professions and interests.  They are from all over the world.  They talk about and are passionate about different things, but they all have a common theme:  they show up, show interest in others and show others how building great relationships in Social Media is done.

Great post. I can’t help thinking that if people were less selfish, the crisis we face would not be what we know… Just trying to enlarge their view angle…
